UEFA Euro 2024, hosted by Germany, starts on June 14 with Germany vs. Scotland in Munich and ends on July 14 in Berlin. Matches will be in ten cities: Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich, and Stuttgart. 24 teams in six groups will play 51 matches.
The group stage runs until June 26, with the knockout stage starting June 29. The top two in each group and the four best third-place teams advance.
There are a total of 10 host cities, including Cologne and Dortmund.
Signal Iduna Park, famous for Borussia Dortmund’s ‘yellow wall,’ will host matches in Groups B, D, and F and has also been chosen as one of the venues for the round of 16 and the semi-finals.
The prize money for UEFA Euro 2024 amounts to $360 million, distributed among the 24 national teams participating in the tournament. Each team stands to receive a minimum of 9.25 million euros, with the potential for the winning team’s national federation to earn up to 28.25 million euros if they win all three games in the opening group stage.
Additionally, clubs will receive a share of 240 million euros from UEFA for releasing their players to participate in national team duties, including qualifying games and the tournament. This prize fund surpasses the amount allocated for the women’s Euro 2022 by a significant margin, highlighting the disparity in prize money between men’s and women’s tournaments.
The Official Match Ball for UEFA EURO 2024, named FUSSBALLLIEBE, was revealed by UEFA and Adidas in November 2023. The event took place in front of Berlin’s Olympiastadion. FUSSBALLLIEBE, which translates to “love of football” in German, incorporates Adidas Connected Ball Technology for the first time in a UEFA EURO tournament.
While there hasn’t been an announcement about an official opening ceremony before Germany’s match against Scotland, an ‘Opening Concert’ is scheduled for the day before.
The ‘Opening Concert’ will occur in Stuttgart, one of the host cities, the day before the tournament begins.
There are 24 teams split into six groups of four.
The final will be held at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on July 14, 2024.
